And so again the curtain falls upon sunny optimism, a brief repose an intermission, forgive pretentious words should you find them, all I can do now is apologise.
I am loved and I love but love is such a funny thing, it is no wonder that science can find no answer, for it is far too complicated, the most complicated question in the Universe is one word long.

Alone I will never be the world holds far too many souls for such a fate, true I sometimes feel alone but to look into the sky I know another person raises their eyes also.
I complicate the game too much and too often, create questions that are needless, destined to be confused and baffled but the rest of the world is baffled.
What I feel to be plight is trivial in the eyes of the world, trivial in my eyes also yet in these moments of quiet I wonder.
Wondering may be my downfall but the curtain rises once more, the lights blaze once more and optimism returns once more to take centre stage.

I'm Just A Catholic Teen Trying To Get By
So yeah I'm Catholic in this wide old secular world and as someone said to me today "you're living in the hardest time to be a catholic teen in history" he was and is correct. I'm sometimes afraid to say I am Catholic because of what people will think or say I mean I have had people stop talking to me when I've said I go to church because they think I'm homophobic or some rubbish like that. Well no, some of my best friends are gay/bisexual/ transexual but they're still my friends because it's the person they are not their sexuality that I care about it's their actions and words and the way they treat people that determines whether or not I like them not whether or not they like people of the same sex or feel trapped inside the wrong body.
The greatest teaching I've been given by my faith is to love, that simple thing to love. How can anyone try to tell me that that's wrong and makes me prejudice? If anything I would be denying my faith to be prejudice towards someone because it would be to deny them love. I am by no means perfect, far from it actually and of course I judge people but I'm trying to see with clear eyes and think with a clear mind every day.
So love is the most important thing in the world and of course I'm delighted if a man and a man or a woman and a woman love eachother so much they're willing to commit the rest of their lives to each other I have absolutely no issues and fully support them because they're displaying love, living out a life filled with love. The issue that arises with same sex marriage is not that the church doesn't want same sex couples to get married it's that the definition of marriage in the Bible is that marriage is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family. We do not have the power to change the word of God asking us to do so is to deny us our religion but I suppose that doesn't count as denying a human right or as any kind of prejudice because we're only Catholics after all. Doesn't quite add up for me.
If someone had stopped to ask the Catholic Church for an alternative to marriage, because by definition a priest would be unable to carry it out for a same sex couple not because they are prejudice, they might have realised that a blessing could have been offered because what is Marriage if not a blessing? I can not stress enough that the Catholic Church is based upon teachings of love and so works to celebrate acts of love, a blessing would have been perfect but no-one stopped to ask or discuss. My faith is being discarded because people refuse to believe that it can solve any problems in the world as it's out-dated and close minded. I wish people would just take time to understand a little more before jumping the gun and creating opinions and beliefs for us.
Now I know you could quote dozens of passages at me
Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers"
but I've done it for you already. I'd like to point out that these passages are mostly from the Old Testament and those that are from the New Testament are not related to Jesus' teachings and if you'd ever believe it as Catholics, as Christians it's Jesus' teachings we aim to follow. Jesus didn't say homosexuality was wrong he didn't mention homosexuality, I follow Jesus' teachings how do you expect me to say I'm against it because of my religion when it's His teachings I follow? He taught love, homosexuality is love. There you have it.
I apologise if I've offended anyone but I haven't tried to, I just want to offer some scope because the media is quick to say things on our behalf but I haven't actually heard much from a real life Catholic about a lot of things. I wish people had the time to sit down and ask me questions, I wish people might let me show them I might not be everything they think I am, I wish people would stop and think that they might be condemning me for something I haven't done. I'll pray for it, take some time out of the day and maybe one day the world will be ready to listen.

You Deserve A Refund
Lots of things about fashion perplex me I've talked about the fashion knickers which I still do not and will never understand but now I'd like to talk about some torso wear mainly those vest things with the big arm holes.
I can't fathom why you'd pay quite a lot of money for a vest that's missing quite a large bit of fabric with gaping holes either side of it. Madness. I fear for the wearers of these vests the arm holes are so big that they could fall out of them if they're not careful and a note to all the girls everyone can see a hell of a lot of bra, it's incredibly revealing.
I see them in the cold winter and shudder, a vest in winter is bad enough unless it's underneath another layer but a vest with gaping holes well you're going to catch a cold or a bug or frostbite. It's just not worth the cold and then the numbness even if it does bear the name of your favourite band or a whiskey you like to drink occasionally.
Now I understad the basketball players wear vests with arm holes larger the the norm but they wear them for practicality so that their arms are quite free and they're working up a sweat and their arm holes are still smaller than those of the vests you can buy.
Pay more for less seems to be the general consensus for clothing at the minute with the fashion knickers and the broken vests but I'd rather shove on a long-sleeved and then a cardigan and then a coat to brave the cold and protect my sides from the wind but maybe that's just me.

Come On We're In A Corridor and Actually That's A Door
In high school I noticed that people did horribly strange and annoying things while we were all milling about toing and froing between lessons, I put this down to age and thought I'd be safer when I got to College. Oh how wrong I was.
Okay so I'll admit it's not half as bad a problem as it was in high school, I have as of yet to see anyone stop on the stairs and tie their shoelace whilst everyone tries in vain to get up and down the stairs around them but there are still some pedestrian issues.
I can't count the number of times I've walked into someone who has stopped in the middle of a doorway and who has then looked at me like I've shot them. I just don't understand it, the door is made for people to walk through not for people to stand in aimlessly so why do I find myself being stuck behind people who think that doorways were meant for having a bit of a rest? I am trying to use the door for it's intended purpose, to get from one room to the other but some people haven't quite grasped that's what you do. Maybe we need some door etiquette classes or a "how to use doors for dummies"-esque book.
A similar issue occurs in the corridors. Now there are roughly around 2000 students in college and the corridors are incredibly narrow considering that number yet people still have no spacial awareness. Many a time, most notably on my way to Geography, I've had to move people aside just to try and make my way down the corridor and they still choose to stop and have a natter with their pals in the middle of a narrow and congested corridor. Why? No-one may ever know but it certainly makes absolutely no sense to me as I try to make my way through the throngs of people and those who stop like a rock in the river to try reach my classroom which is at the very end of said corridor. Even the staff have to fight their way to their rooms.
So these people have at least 5 GCSEs and are studying at a higher level but still haven't quite worked out what to do in a corridor and what the function of a door is. Help us all.

Guys You're Not Even Signed
I enjoy writing songs and playing them to the general public when I busk or play a gig and
I've come to notice that it can be quite hard to get a gig if you're not in a band because you won't be able to sell as many tickets as a band, well no, little old me can often manage more ticket sales than the 4 lads in the band.
Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of acts come for their set then bugger off. No. That's not on in my books I mean the other people have stayed and listened to them, it's nothing but common courtesy to repay the favour. You're playing a gig with them show some support even if they're not as good as your band and if you can make the time to play surely that means you have the time to listen to the other people.
I don't actually care where I play or who to because if no-one listens sod 'em I'm having a bloody good time doing something I love. Some people get in a right arse about it but we're all playing an unsigned gig people come to see their mates anf it's something we have to get used to.
I have issues sometimes with these things, people get their knickers in a twist far too easily as far as music, drama and art are concerned.

Christmas, Not X-mas, Not Crimbo But Christmas
Ding dong merrily on high it's Christmas time again dears, ding dong merrily on high it's only just December.
So we're finally in December a time I believe in which it's much more acceptable to begin Christmas festivities like carol singing and Christmas fairs. November's too early in my books and as for the supermarkets having their festive isles from September they've just taken things too far.
Now to the point of this one, Christmas and what it stands for. Christmas, CHRIST mas. I just want to make it very clear for y'all.
It's lovely to have lots of people celebrating a Christian holiday and I love the way it unites the world and inspires people to help others but please please please can we stop changing the name of this sacred time of year?
If you're going to celebrate Christmas and hand out presents and have a holiday I think you should have the respect to acknowledge that this festival exists because of a story from a faith, the story of Jesus' birth in a stable 2000ish years ago. I know Jesus wasn't actually born then and that it's to do with a pagan festival but still it's called Christmas for a reason and you're celebrating it so it would be nice
if you could make a little bit of effort to call it Christmas.
Merry Christmas one and all, that's right I said Christmas, make sure yours is a good one.

Science & Faith, You Can Have Both
So recently I've had to justify my faith to people in this Christian country that I live in. I will not ram my religion down your throat because that won't be of any benefit to you or myself and would just affirm all the opinions you've already formed about me because I've admitted I'm Catholic.
I have had people stop talking to me because I'm catholic and so of course I must hate gays and I must be trying to expel demons from people every 5 seconds on street corners, I hate to disappoint but I'm far too busy in College and rehearsals and life to be compelling you with the power of Christ.
Now hear me out on this I believe in God but I also know that the Big Bang was the cause of the Universe creation, well as far as we're aware because the theory could very well change in a few decades. Science only affirms my faith in God by providing me with proof on a daily basis of His existence.
I sit in Biology learning about the co-transport of glucose and sodium ions into the blood (amongst other things of course) and realise that something so perfect can only be the result of something planned. Yes Homo sapiens are the product of evolution but the processes that happen in our bodies every single day and the fact that there is life at all just prove to me that someone or something had a hand in it. Paley's Teleological Argument sums it up really well.
As a catholic I believe in God and I believe in Science. I support Same-sex marriage and same-sex couples adopting children as both are the greatest displays of love, the foundation and most important teaching of my faith.
I understand the Catholic argument against same-sex marriage, the purpose of marriage is to procreate and raise your children to be catholic but if that's the case then a man and a woman who could not conceive a child and knew so should not be able to get married under the same principals. I would also rather that a child received love and the support of parents be they of the same or opposite sex than be left in care without a family or trapped in an abusive family.
Believe what you will it's your right to do so, I think that anyone who is a good person without having any guidance from a religion deserves to be rewarded more than someone who is because they've done it off their own back. I only hope I've given you a bit of insight into my own faith.
